The French driver took two important and emotional victories for Scuderia Ferrari, at Hockenheimring in 1982, where his teammate and compatriot Didier Pironi suffered his career-ending leg injuries. And Imola 1983. He also drove for McLaren and Renault. Tambay calls America ‘an important part of my life’, he came to this country on a skiing scholarship and won the Can Am championship twice.
