Villa Trips: Museum dedicated to the life and career of German driver Wolfgang von Trips is located in Horrem, near Cologne. All items in the museum, from the go-kart he bought in Florida in the fifties to the helmet he was wearing at the time of his tragic and fatal accident at Monza, in 1961, are authentic. There is a large collection of personal items with letters from fellow Grand Prix drivers and the library has an extensive collection of racing books. The karting track Michael Schumacher’s father managed was an extension of a project von Trips had started to promote young German talent. My sincere thanks to Herr Jörg-Thomas Födisch of the museum for his time and special thanks to my friend Herr Herbert Schneider for arranging the visit and to Fraulein Monika Schneider for her seal of approval.
