Formula 2: Max vs Bernie battle takes to the track in 2009 as FIA plans to re-introduce Formula 2 as feeder series to Formula 1. Glory years of Formula 2 produced many top drivers. Jacky Ickx, the 1967 European Formula 2 champion, went on to winning Grand Prix races for Ferrari and Le Mans 24 hours race seven times. Ronnie Peterson, the 1971 champion, was regarded by many as the fastest drivers in Grand Prix racing of his era. Jackie Stewart and Jochen Rindt also raced successfully in this series before clinching championships in Formula 1. It was a Formula 2 event at Hockenheim which claimed the life of Jim Clark. It was in this race an English driver made his Formula 2 debut. His name: Max Mosley. The photo shows French driver Johnny Servoz-Gavin, the 1969 champion, in his Matra MS7.
