BAHAMAS SPEED WEEK REVIVAL

BRIAN REDMAN JOINS SIR STIRLING MOSS AND DEREK BELL FOR BAHAMAS SPEED WEEK REVIVAL 

NASSAU, Bahamas – The organizers of the Second Annual Bahamas Speed Week Revival have announced that racing legend Brian Redman has accepted the position of Grand Marshal for the event scheduled for Nov. 24-Dec. 2, 2012. Redman, a multi-time racing champion in the U.S. and overseas, will join Patron Sir Stirling Moss and Event Ambassador Derek Bell, MBE, for the second running of the Revival. 

Bahamas Speed Week, a week-long celebration of racing, gala gatherings and parties, will build on the success of 2011 with the addition to the format of a Speed Week Concert and a Miss Speed Week Beauty Pageant, lining up alongside the now traditional Pictet Bank Gala Ball. Last year’s favorites, the 007 Island Tour, Arawak Cay Sprint and the Fort Charlotte Hillclimb, will continue, with announcements of other events to be made soon.

“It is a great honor to be appointed Grand Marshal and to be part of such a significant event,” said Redman. “Although I didn’t compete in the original Speed Week events, this will give me an opportunity to share in the nostalgia of those days and help provide some interesting cars for fans to enjoy.”

Redman was a member of World Championship for Makes winning teams in 1968, ‘69, ‘70 and ‘72, a three-time U.S. F5000 champion (1974-76), and the 1981 IMSA Camel GT and 1971 South African Springbok champion.

The Speed Week Revival is open to race cars of the original period from 1954-1966, Classic Cars and Modern Supercars.
