F1WEEKLY PODCAST NUMBER 599 CLARK AND NASIR WITH YOUR BELGIAN GRAND PRIX RE-CAP
ENAAM CLOSES IN ON TITLE AND F1WEEKLY CONTINUES TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS UP AND COMING YOUNG DRIVER.
Enaam came away from the 6th round of
the abkc s1 championship at Clay Pigeon
in Dorset with mixed emotions, having just
missed out on another victory, but
extending his lead in the Championship
with one round to go…
The 12 year old once again proved his
pace in free practice, regularly topping the
time sheets. In Qualifying Enaam set a
time that would put him P1 but the
session was red flagged as the timing
system failed.
When the session resumed, Enaam got
stuck in traffic and, in the closest
Qualifying session of the year, he found
himself 5th, less than 0.1s off pole.
In his first heat, the Fusion driver had a
carb problem, dropping him to 12th, but
bounced back perfectly to win the next
heat and claim grid 6 for the first final.
Final 1 was dominated by Fusion, with
Enaam and 3 of his team mates pushing
clear of the field. As the laps ticked down,
Enaam bided his time in a comfortable
3rd, before mounting a brave challenge
for victory, going around the outside of
both his team mates at the hairpin. It
nearly came off, but he was squeezed
wide on the exit and forced to settle for
3rd.
In Final 2 Enaam took control of the race
and lead from the 4th lap, until the
penultimate corner when, having defended
hard he came under attack from Alex
Quinn, the pair touched wheels on the exit,
flicking Enaam’s chain off and he was left
to coast across the line 4th. Despite the
disappointment, Enaam extended his
Championship lead to 21 points with one
round to go.
Next Round; Shenington 30th Sept 2012
