THE BATTLE FOR THE TITLE: WILL DANIEL JUNCADELLA PREVAIL?

This weekend, Hockenheim will stage the final rounds of the battle for the 2012 Formula 3 Euro Series title, with the 4.574-kilometre Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg being the venue of the season finale. Spain’s Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) travels to the German GP circuit as championship leader and consequently, he has got the best chances of by securing the title and following the footsteps of his compatriot Roberto Merhi. Nonetheless, rookie Pascal Wehrlein (Mücke Motorsport), Ferrari protégé Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam) and William Buller (Carlin) will give their very best to steal Juncadella’s lead, in the final three races of the season.

Holding a 35-point lead over his toughest rival, Pascal Wehrlein, Daniel Juncadella can’t rest on his laurels but he definitely travels to Hockenheim as clear favourite. And in addition, the Spaniard is contesting his third Formula 3 season, thus being clearly more experienced than Wehrlein and Marciello who follow in second and third position respectively. But the two young guns are determined to give Juncadella a hard time, nevertheless.

The grid for the final race weekend of the 10th Formula 3 Euro Series will feature six guest drivers. Dennis van de Laar and Lucas Auer will race for Van Amersfoort Racing, Fortec Motorsport will be represented by Felix Serralles, Alex Lynn and Luis Felipe Derani – and Carlin is going to enter a third Dallara single-seater for GP2 driver Felipe Nasr.

Pascal Wehrlein (Mücke Motorsport): “I won’t mind the battle for the Formula 3 Euro Series title as I haven got a chance of becoming the champion in my own right. Therefore, I will just focus on trying to once again win races, this weekend. I would be really happy if I should succeed in defending my runner-up position in the championship. And as a lot of my friends and acquaintances are coming to Hockenheim to support me I want to provide them a good show.”
