JRM RACING SIGNS DUMBRECK AND LUHR FOR BLANCPAIN ENDURANCE SERIES CAMPAIGN
British sportscar team JRM Racing is delighted to confirm Scot Peter Dumbreck and German Lucas Luhr will race its Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in this year’s Blancpain Endurance Series. Peter and Lucas will team up in the Pro-car entry submitted by the team to contest the 2013 championship.
Lucas, 33, returns to the JRM fold following his 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship win with the team. In his title-winning year Lucas scored four wins with the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT1 alongside team-mate Michael Krumm. Lucas’ prestigious career has also included a further GT1 championship title, five ALMS class titles, class wins at Sebring, Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and stints in the German touring car championship, the DTM, with Audi.
Peter Dumbreck, 39, who hails from Kirkcaldy, has a long history of competition with the British-based JRM squad. In 2010 he joined forces with Sumo Power GT, the predecessor to JRM Racing, when the FIA GT1 World Championship was re-launched. Peter also competed in the inaugural FIA World Endurance Championship with JRM in 2012, securing sixth position overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with four further privateer podiums in the championship. His extensive racing experience also includes spells in the Super GT championship in Japan and five Le Mans campaigns, plus the DTM.
Speaking of his return to JRM, Lucas commented, ‘I’m pleased and excited to join up with JRM again, and to get back behind the wheel of the Nissan GT-R. I know the team very well from the 2011 season and the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 I’ll be racing is based on the GT1 car I won the GT1 championship with, so I believe there is huge potential. The car looks good and clearly has the performance to do well in this championship so I’m very hopeful of a good year.’
Peter added, ‘Continuing with JRM this year was a natural move after the success we’ve had together in the past three seasons. Blancpain is a competitive series and the car we have is capable of doing very well. I know that JRM and Nismo have been working hard to get the most from the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 and I really think we can show that this year. I’m looking forward to getting out on track and mixing it up with the rest of the field.’
Team principal James Rumsey commented, ‘Peter and Lucas are a formidable driving pair, with extensive experience of the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT1 from which the GT3 car is derived. Having them in the team is a major benefit for JRM and our customers as they will bring out the performance and drivability of the car based on their understanding of the GT3 and their racing expertise. Both drivers also know the team exceptionally well, with Peter with the team since its inception and Lucas our world champion from 2011. We are talking to a number of drivers about the third seat and hope to finalise this very soon.’
