LCH TOTALLY DOMINATES IN HUNGARY AGAIN! MAX CRASHES DRIVING TO THE GRID FINISHES SECOND AND BOTTAS THE PERFECT NUMBER TWO.
Hamilton wins for the eighth time matches Schumacher’s record.
Schumacher, who LCH succeeded at Mercedes ahead of the 2013 F1 campaign, had set the record at Magny-Cours in France.
Hamilton delivered a masterful performance from the front and never looked in any danger of throwing away his second victory of the 2020 F1 season.
The 35-year-old now tops the World Drivers’ Championship standings ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who came third as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen split the two Mercedes.
LCH: Believe it or not, I was still pushing out there, particularly for the fastest lap at the end. “What I want to say is a huge congratulations to everyone back home at the factory.
“Even more on the engine department at HPP. Those guys have done such a fantastic job by developing and improving this year as well.
“Honestly, it was one of my favourite races to have raced. Whilst I was on my own for the race, it was just a different kind of challenge.
“Whilst we had great pace, it couldn’t have been without guys, with great pit stops, great strategy and, right at the end there, because I was managing those mediums tires for a long-long time, it was perfect to get on the fresh soft tires and get the extra point.”
