Having Put His Own Racing Career Behind Him, Richard Began Working For Fortec In 1993 And Eventually Bought The Outfit Two Years Later At The End Of 1995. He Also Managed Brazilian Racing Driver Ricardo Rosset Who Was Racing In Formula One At That Time. The Team Began Racing In The Now Defunct Series Formula 3000 And Formula Opel And Has Grown Over The Years To Become The Biggest Single Seater Race Team In The UK.

2012 Saw The Team Run Twenty-Three Drivers Across Six Racing Formulas From Formula 1 Feeder Series Formula Renault 3.5 To One Of The First Rungs Of The Racing Ladder BARC Formula Renault. Fortec Finished In The Top Three Of All Six Formulas They Ran In And Took The Championship Titles In The Formula Renault 3.5, Formula Renault NEC And Intersteps.
Fortec Motorsports driver profile consists of many strong names and the team prides themselves on maintaining a great relationship with their drivers. The team’s most recent F1 graduate is Robin Frijns, 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 Champion. Robin graduated from Formula Renault 2.0 to the 3.5 and went on to win the championship despite being in his rookie year. The Sauber F1 team, at a young driver test in Abu Dhabi, recognized his fantastic potential and Robin was soon signed as the team’s reserve driver.
