Drivers and team who dominated the season but the championship slipped away by the banks of the Danube and the Harbour of Monaco. A look at drivers who did not win the most races in a season but took the crown.

1982. Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Didier Pironi and John Watson, all had two wins each.

But Keke Rosberg takes the cake for this season. Against the turbo powered cars his naturally aspirated Williams had no chance, but thanks to unreliability at Renault and tragedy at Ferrari, the door was opened for the original Flying Finn who was born in Stockholm, Sweden.

The 1982 Swiss Grand Prix was held at Dijon Prenois and Keke came out as the big cheese after the racing laps had been extended, but that’s another story for another segment.

This was the only win of the season for Keke and in the parking lot of Caesar’s Palace, Vegas, baby, he was crowned as the emperor of Formula 1.

The race was won by Michele Alboreto in a Tyrrell.
