Another Jet Dryer crash at Daytona.

Daytona 500 pre-race clean up saw the very rare occurrence of the famous Jet-dryer crashing into each other bringing up the Juan Pablo Montoya incident. Of course Le Nascar fans remember the first time it happened back in 2012, when the rain-delayed race was moved to Monday night and Juan Pablo Montoya set the track on fire (literally) after crashing into a jet dryer that was on the track under caution.

Track crews worked furiously to extinguish the giant inferno before it caused irreparable damage to the surface of the track and forced NASCAR to call the race prematurely. And after they were able to get the fire put out, the track crew then brought out a special cleaning agent to get the remainder of the fuel out of the surface of the track.

Just kidding, they brought out boxes of powdered Tide laundry detergent and washed the track down.

Remembering Another Monday Daytona 500, One Juan Pablo Montoya Would Rather Forget.

Daytona 500. Its track record on Monday 500s isn’t very good. Monday’s 500 was among the most spectacular of the 62 editions of “The Great American Race.”And by “spectacular” we don’t mean in a good way. All told, nine cautions ate away 39 of the record 209 laps (nine more than scheduled). An unfathomable 33 of the 40 cars were damaged to some degree or destroyed in over six incidents.
