As the beginning of the Formula 1 ® season gets closer let’s listen to more classic Nasir Hameed. This week we bring you more early Motorsports Mondial an interview with former FIA steward Johnny Herbert! Nasir and I are attending the Petit Le Mans series race at Laguna Seca in 2006 and Johnny is going through withdrawals for a race seat anywhere he can find it! Gracias.

Herbert: “That’s why the president made the decision to get rid of me”
Speaking to CasinoApps.com, Herbert finally broke the silence as to how he was let go by the governing body: “It didn’t come from within the FIA initially. It was all to do with the chitter-chatter to the FIA that made them change their point of view. Everything I’d done all year long in 2024 had been discussed and accepted.
“Two days before I was eventually given the sack over the phone, I’d been told all was good for 2025. Then it wasn’t,” continued the Brit, surprised at his seemingly abrupt sacking.
“I understand how everything came about. But I am not going to point the finger. But as I said, there were certain people who did actually speak with the President [of the FIA] and that’s why the president finally made that decision to get rid of me,” Herbert concluded.

Aston Martin news:
Adrian Newey left ‘positively surprised’ by Lance Stroll!!
Following his shock Red Bull exit, Aston Martin moved to snap up the services of Newey – who has contributed to over 200 race wins and 26 titles in his F1 career – issuing him the newly-created managing technical partner title, while the 66-year-old also became a shareholder in the team.
By joining Aston Martin, Newey has ticked one of the key drivers off his bucket list to work with in Fernando Alonso, the two-time World Champion.

However, Lance Stroll on the other side of the garage has been making a positive impression on Newey.
During an appearance on the Backstage Boxengasse Podcast, it was suggested to Schumacher that, rumour has it, Newey would like to show both Alonso and Stroll the door looking ahead to the huge reset coming for F1 2026, when new chassis and engine regulations come into force. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
