It’s good to be back on the top step of the podium after a couple of difficult weekends. It was a hard-fought win and didn’t come easily. We lost the lead on the run to Eau Rouge but got it back on the opening lap. We looked in control but then lost it again when Leclerc was able to pit under the Virtual Safety Car. We kept calm though and slowly closed the gap down. He was very quick and, even after I passed him, it was a struggle to break overtake mode. We eventually did though and could bring the win home.
We saw how competitive several teams were again today. We need to keep working hard, keep performing, and keep scoring points. It’s going to be a long battle all the way to the end of the season. We will keep taking it one weekend at a time and try to do our best every time we get in the car.

It’s been another difficult weekend, and I leave Spa disappointed that we’ve had another race where we’ve not scored any points. We’ve had too many of those weekends recently, but we will reset again and see what we can do in Budapest. We want to go into the shutdown with positivity and hopefully we can do that with a better Grand Prix in Hungary.
The issue we faced with our boost on the opening lap was different to what we’ve been trying to solve earlier in the weekend. I made a good start and was in a decent position to fight for the lead but didn’t have the speed we expected on the run to Turn 5. I was overtaken by several cars behind and the incident with Lewis (Hamilton) followed.
We are working flat out as a team to improve our reliability. We know it has cost us too many points so far this season and we’re all determined to get on top of it. It’s frustrating for everyone but I know just how hard everyone at Brackley and Brixworth is pushing to improve it.

“I think we had a very good race, and hopefully we can have more weekends like this. I had too much deployment from turn one to turn two, and when I looked at my battery, I knew that I was going to have a difficult run. We were then a bit unlucky with the VSC, and it affected the strategy and our ability to fight for P2 in the end. The Medium tyre was pretty decent, but we struggled a bit on the Hard tyres in terms of grip and had few balance limitations, so we just need to analyse why it was a bit trickier than expected. However, we had the car in a good window, and I think we can be happy with the whole weekend and pleased to be on the podium. Overall it was a good result and a pretty solid weekend!”

“I’m very happy with how today played out. We had a clear plan from the moment we arrived in Spa, so we were able to put everything into getting the most out of the race, and we did exactly that. From P21 to P6 is not easy, but the strategy was perfect and the pace in the car was strong, so it’s been an all-round Team effort. With the Safety Car, we pitted early to give us options later on, and it worked out perfectly. Credit to the Team for that call. Going through the pack is always fun, especially with the pace we had, which let me keep the gap to Lando once he started to get closer. The goal yesterday was to get back into the points. We added a few more on top of that to make for a satisfying afternoon.”

Nannini Pulls Away To Lead
Cape 1-2 Finish at Nashville
LEBANON, Tenn. (Sunday, July 19, 2026) – Matteo Nannini earned his second victory of the INDY NXT by Firestone season in the Music City Grand Prix on Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway, and this one meant much more than his first.
Pole sitter Nannini led a 1-2 finish for Cape Motorsports Powered by ECR, driving his No. 20 Enve Motorsports car to a 5.6449-second victory over teammate Nikita Johnson in the No. 21 machine. It was his third career victory in the INDYCAR development series and the first 1-2 finish ever for the longtime junior formula standout Cape team in INDY NXT competition.

This was the first win this year in which Nannini took the checkered flag first. He placed second on track in the second race of the Road America doubleheader last month but was awarded the victory after a procedural violation in post-race inspection with the car of Alessandro de Tullio of AJ Foyt Racing, which crossed the finish line first.
“I’m happy to get P1 on track, actually get it here and not with some penalties and stuff,” Nannini said. “I think it’s great for the team, for me, the sponsors, everybody for confidence. Again, the first of many more.”
Myles Rowe, who had won three of the last four oval races in the series, finished third in the No. 99 Abel Motorsports with Force Indy machine.
Rookie Max Garcia tied his career-best finish by placing fourth in the No. 12 Abel Motorsports car, with Max Taylor rounding out the top five in the No. 28 Susan G. Komen car of Andretti Global.
The fierce championship race also took on a new look with this race, as Johnson returned to the lead by one point, 451-450, over previous leader Enzo Fittipaldi, who finished 11th in the No. 67 HMD Motorsports machine. There are just four races left this season as drivers compete for the INDYCAR career enhancement package awarded to the series champion.
Nannini led 64 of the 65 laps from pole, eventually pulling away to victory by more than five seconds. But those are perhaps two of the most deceiving statistics from the race on the 1.33-mile concrete oval, which featured plenty of action throughout the 23-car field.
The only time Nannini lost the lead came on Lap 17, when Rowe dove under him and Johnson in Turn 1 as they dueled for the lead, jumping from third to first in one move. But the last of two caution flags flew on the next lap for debris as Nannini had just nosed past Rowe to regain the lead.
On the Lap 20 restart, Nannini stayed out front. But the gap to his rivals never exceeded a second over nearly the next 30 laps, as Johnson, Rowe and Lochie Hughes in the No. 26 Andretti Global car all took turns at hounding Nannini’s gearbox and trying to find a way around the Italian.
The complexion of the race changed on Lap 49 when Rowe and Hughes began a wheel-to-wheel duel for second, with Johnson right behind. That joust stirred the crowd, but it also added wear to their Firestone Firehawk tires and let Nannini pull away.
“We had the car to stay out front,” Nannini said. “I was not sure if we were going to get passed, but I wanted to get clean air, so I was driving some different lines depending on how close the guys behind were to me.”
Nannini padded his lead to 1.5 seconds by Lap 50 ahead of the dicing and slicing behind him. By Lap 58, that edge had mushroomed to 4.2 seconds, and Nannini continued to drive away.
Meanwhile, Johnson was able to pass Rowe and Hughes to regain second and grab the points lead. His climb to second comprised some of the track-record 184 on-track passes in this race, including another record 140 for position.
“I tried passing Matteo early on and burned my tires a little bit,” Johnson said. “I just settled in, kind of cleared my mind and made sure the tires got back to normal, pushed again and then at the very end I held off Myles. He was really fast, as well.”
The next INDY NXT by Firestone race is the Grand Prix of Portland on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Portland International Raceway.

Rafael Câmara was made to work for his second victory of the season, putting in a mature display to win the Spa-Francorchamps Feature Race. The Brazilian driver had to manage losing his lead at the start, a Red Flag stoppage and challenges from his rivals to seal the win – with Invicta Racing winning both races at Spa for the second consecutive year. ART Grand Prix driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak achieved his maiden Formula 2 podium in P2, with Campos Racing’s Nikola Tsolov in third.
AS IT HAPPENED
It was a great start for Inthraphuvasak who got ahead of Câmara immediately at lights out. The Invicta driver was left to fight with the fast-starting Tsolov, who got ahead of Alexander Dunne. Câmara and Tsolov went side-by-side through Eau Rouge but the former won the battle, with Dunne left to defend fourth from Joshua Duerksen into Les Combes.
The Safety Car was called upon after Oliver Goethe stopped at the exit of Turn 1. Moments before, Gabriele Minì collided with Roman Bilinski at the opening corner, although both drivers were able to continue on. The Italian later received a five-second time penalty. Racing resumed on Lap 3 and Tsolov resumed his attack on Câmara. The two went side-by-side at La Source with the championship leader going through the gravel at corner exit, and this allowed Dunne and Duerksen through.
The Bulgarian lost more positions on the next lap, as Nico Varrone went around his outside at Blanchimont, while John Bennett passed him at the final chicane – relegating Tsolov to P7. On Lap 5 and Duerksen – the lead driver to have started on the Medium tyre – got past Dunne down the Kemmel Straight, while teammate Câmara overtook Inthraphuvasak for the lead into Les Combes.
A few corners later, Duerksen rounded Inthraphuvasak heading into the final chicane for second, as the Supersoft tyre runners started to struggle. By the time they pitted at the end of Lap 6, Câmara had lost the lead to the Paraguayan, while Dunne was sixth ahead of Inthraphuvasak with Tsolov down in 12th.
The Brazilian emerged as the lead driver to have made their mandatory stop, while Dunne, having been jumped by Inthraphuvasak in the pitlane, overtook the ART driver at Les Combes. Laurens van Hoepen was ahead of Tsolov. Van Hoepen’s race was over soon after however, as he crashed into the barrier at the exit of Turn 9. The TRIDENT driver was okay and jumped out of the car but the Red Flag was waved to clear the track in the aftermath.
Having made his mandatory stop under the Safety Car, Noel León emerged ahead of Câmara in the net race lead. Once the action resumed, the race was being run to time, and Duerksen led the field away with just 21 minutes remaining on rolling start.
Dunne was coming under pressure from Inthraphuvasak and Tsolov, while León started to pick his way through the traffic, getting past Cian Shields at the final chicane. On the next lap, the Campos driver was caught off guard by Câmara at Turn 1, with Invicta driver going around his outside to take the net race lead.
Dunne then followed the Invicta driver to go past León with the help of DRS into Les Combes. But the Safety Car was out again with Fittipaldi having found the gravel at Turn 8. Those that had not yet made their mandatory stop came in for the Supersoft tyres, leaving Câmara in P1 ahead of Dunne, León, Inthraphuvasak, Tsolov and Minì.
Duerksen was the lead driver on the softer compound in P10, as they looked to try to come through the field. Racing resumed with just under 12 minutes to go and Tsolov went to the inside of Inthraphuvasak at La Source. The ART rookie held him off briefly but lost P4 at Les Combes.
With just over eight minutes to go, Dunne and León were given five-second time penalties for exceeding track limits one too many times. Out in front, Câmara was two seconds clear with three minutes to go, while Inthraphuvsak was eying a move on León.
The ART driver took P3 on the road down the Kemmel Straight as we entered the final minute of the race. Invicta then came on the radio to tell Câmara that rain was falling into the pitlane, as we entered into the final lap.
But the Brazilian was unaffected as he crossed the line to win for the second time this season, giving Invicta four wins in a row at Spa. With Dunne and León’s penalties taking effect, Inthraphuvsak and Tsolov finished second and third respectively. Dunne dropped to fourth ahead of Minì, with Rafael Villagómez in sixth ahead of León. Hitech teammates Colton Herta and Ritomo Miyata followed as Mari Boya took the final point in 10th.

CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS
Nikola Tsolov continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship on 161 points, extending his lead over Gabriele Minì, who stays second on 134. Rafael Câmara is third with 125 points, while Alexander Dunne is fourth on 108 points as Noel León continues to round out the top five with 75.
In the Teams’ Standings, Campos Racing retain their lead at the top with 236 points. Rodin Motorsport are second on 165, just two points ahead of MP Motorsport. Invicta Racing are fourth on 161 points, as ART Grand Prix round out the top five with 109.

Rivera wins with charging drive at Spa.
Ernesto Rivera was unstoppable on Sunday, claiming the Feature Race victory with an impressive drive to the top step. The Campos Racing driver started from fourth on the grid, but was patient in the early stages before picking off his rivals to move into the lead past halfway, and was uncatchable from there.
Hiyu Yamakoshi claimed P2 for Van Amersfoort Racing, while Freddie Slater wound up third in the TRIDENT, as he cut the gap to Ugo Ugochukwu down to a single point in the Championship.
AS IT HAPPENED
Slater got a poor start from pole and it was Tuukka Taponen that led the field by Turn 1. Yamakoshi followed the Finn through to take second, while the polesitter recovered enough momentum to emerge from the first corner in third. Yamakoshi then went wheel-to-wheel with Taponen approaching Les Combes and the Japanese driver swept into the lead of the race at Turn 5.
Ugochukwu ran into the gravel on the exit of Turn 7 after contact with teammate Theophile Nael. The Frenchman sustained front wing damage following earlier touch with ART Grand Prix’s Taito Kato approaching Turn 5, and that caused him to understeer towards the Championship leader. Nael subsequently pitted for repairs, while Ugochukwu was left down in 10th position. The Safety Car was deployed at the end of the first lap with AIX Racing’s Yevan David in the gravel.
Racing resumed entering Lap 4 and Yamakoshi suffered a big slide at the penultimate corner to leave him under pressure from Taponen. But it was Slater on the move, diving to the inside of the Finn at La Source, though the MP driver was able to hold onto second with a better exit. With DRS re-enabled on Lap 6, Ugochukwu completed a pass on Rodin Motorsport’s Christian Ho, claiming P9 ahead of Turn 5 with the slipstream.
Lap 7 and Slater reproduced his title rival’s move, taking P2 from Taponen on the run to Turn 5. One lap later and the TRIDENT driver was back into the lead of the race with a move into Les Combes on Yamakoshi.
Onto Lap 9 and behind the leaders, Rivera dived to the inside of Taponen to claim third place at Turn 5. However, there was slight contact with the right-rear tyre of Yamakoshi, leaving the Campos with a missing front wing endplate. Taponen was wide out of Turn 1 at the start of Lap 10, allowing Mattia Colnaghi to move ahead for fourth place on the run to Eau Rouge.
Fellow Red Bull Junior Team driver Rivera was up to second at Turn 5, repeating his move from the previous lap on Yamakoshi. Lap 11 and Taponen was down to P6 as a charging Maciej Gladysz put himself into the top five at Turn 5. Ugochukwu dropped out of the points as Brando Badoer put a move on the American.
Bruno Del Pino and Jin Nakamura completed moves on the Campos driver at the start of Lap 12, while Rivera was on the attack with DRS up front. He cleared Slater on the run to Turn 5 to claim the lead of the race. One lap later and Yamakoshi was attacking, clearing Slater after the Briton dropped out of DRS range to Rivera ahead.
Entering the penultimate lap and the fight for the lower points places was hotting up, as Alessandro Giusti, Jin Nakamura and Badoer exchanging places in eighth, ninth and 10th positions. After taking the lead, nobody could catch Rivera, who claimed his maiden Feature Race victory and second win overall in his rookie season.
Yamakoshi claimed P2, while Slater was able to remain in the podium positions to take third. Conaghi held Gladysz at bay on the final tour in the fight for fourth, while Kato finished P6. Nakamura won the three-car fight with Giusti and Badoer, with the trio rounding out the points down to 10th place.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS
Ugo Ugochukwu remains the Championship leader on 104 points, but Freddie Slater is right behind him now on 103. Theophile Nael remains third on 65 points with Noah Stromsted fourth on 58. Ernesto Rivera’s win moves him into the top five with 56 points.
Campos Racing lead the Teams’ Standings on 225 points ahead of TRIDENT on 168 and Van Amersfoort Racing on 131. ART Grand Prix is fourth on 110 points with Rodin Motorsport fifth on 99 points.
